Department of Mathematics

About The Department

“Mathematics is the language in which God has written the universe”

Galileo Galilei

The Department of Mathematics has strived to be a centre of excellence in emerging area of Mathematical science since its inception. The department has been vigorously engaged in teaching and research to produce the high quality education in our society. At present, the department has six energetic and dedicated faculty members. The faculty members are active in several research areas, such as: Algebra, Differential Geometry, General Relativity and Cosmology, Fluid Dynamics, Water waves phenomenon, Integral equation, Nonlinear Dynamics, Ordinary and Partial Differential Equations, Homogony Analysis method, etc.

The department also boasts of hosting visits of very good number of distinguished mathematicians. The department has its own Computing Laboratories and Departmental Library. The department has taken few steps in its pursuit of excellence – time-to-time review of course curricula, organizing student seminars, Conferences, Job oriented workshops including some social and cultural activities. The department also strives for excellence through research and excellent teaching driven by curiosity and creativity. Many of the graduated students have gone for higher studies in reputed universities. Some of the students are also recruited through the campus placement.

Vision & Mission of the Department:

  • To transform young people to competent and motivated professionals with sound theoretical and practical knowledge.
  • To produce under-graduate students with strong foundation to join higher studies, research or to serve in industry by providing innovative mathematical ideas through classroom teaching and colloquium.
  • To create an atmosphere conducive to high class basic and advanced concepts with clear thinking and determination who can, in future, become experts in relevant areas of mathematics.
  • To nurture a conducive learning environment that supports creativity, critical thinking and enquiry.
  • Finally, helping freshmen to grow up to responsible citizens.
