Electronics Department was established with the mission of imparting quality education with the blend of theoretical foundations and practical applications.

History of Department
Initially the department started from department of Physics offering Electronics General course. Later three years Electronics (Honours) was offered from 2007. Dedicated faculty members, with expertise in various domains, guide students through lectures, tutorials, and projects. Moreover, state-of-the-art laboratories equipped with modern equipment and software provide students with hands-on experience (includes both experimental and simulation-based problems). Several students from each batch have ranked within top three students of Calcutta University and continued their higher studies in various esteemed Universities and IITs all over India. Many of the passed-out students pursued their research works from foreign Universities in different parts of the world like France, Italy, Sheffield, California etc. Some of our brilliant students are working as a teaching faculty in abroad namely in Nanyang Institute of technology, Singapore. Further, numerous electronics graduates form Vidyasagar college have cracked different national eligibility tests like NET, GATE, SET and many other had owned various Government jobs in different sectors. Besides this the alumni group of the department consist of professionals in various multinational companies like, TCS, Cognizant, PWC and many more. Beyond education department also organizes Seminars and departmental picnic to grow a healthy and worthy bonding between teachers and students.

Departmental Library
Department of electronics has a departmental library which is a collection of books concerned with all the fields of electronics like circuit theory, analog electronics, digital electronics, control systems, power electronics, microprocessor, DSP, communication, optoelectronics and others. These books are contributed by different grants of the college. The Department Library is well maintained with all features intact and in well connection with the College Main Library. The department library is always accessible for the students in such a way as to cater to their needs while maintaining proper discipline at the same time.
